Disaster certainly struck Doha, Qatar this week when an apparent faulty gas cylinder exploded at a Turkish mall restaurant in the city with the explosion causing a fire that led to part of the building near a petrol station collapsing.

It was a very big blast…. It blew away cars and shrapnel scattered 50 or 100 meters away” said Major General Saad Bin Jassim Al-Khalifi.  At least 12 people including 2 children were killed and at least 30 wounded in the explosion.

Are we ever prepared for such events, can we ever predict every eventuality, the answer is quite simply no.  What we can do though is recognise that such situations happen not just to other people but can happen to anyone.  The more prepared we are the better we will recover.
